The Jakarta government has deployed 15 portable toilet units to the disaster-stricken region of Aceh Tamiang.

Jakarta is here for Sumatra

This aid is intended to support the needs of evacuees, volunteers, and field personnel, while ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene at the affected sites.

Jakarta Environment Agency Head, Asep Kuswanto, stated that in the midst of an emergency, one necessity cannot be postponed: proper sanitation.

"When disaster strikes, everything changes. All activities shift to evacuation centers. Yet one thing remains constant: everyone requires adequate sanitation facilities," he expressed, Thursday (12/18).

He emphasized that these portable toilets are not merely supplementary facilities. They serve as essential infrastructure to safeguard the health of evacuees, facilitate the duties of field officers, and support the endurance of humanitarian volunteers during the crisis.

He hoped that this aid would improve conditions on the ground and provide tangible benefits, ensuring that everyone involved remains healthy and resilient during the emergency.

"The 15 portable toilet units dispatched are part of our effort to prevent disease outbreaks and maintain environmental hygiene in the affected areas. Compassion knows no distance; Jakarta is here for Sumatra," he concluded.
