The personnel of Water Resources Unit dredged the Susukan-Rambutan Water Channel on Jalan Haji Baping, Susukan Urban Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta.
We dredge the channel up to 60 cm deep
During the activity, one unit of heavy equipment, a mini spider excavator, was deployed to dredge a channel approximately 30 meters long and four meters wide.
Deby, Unit Coordinator, said dredging of the Susukan-Rambutan connecting channel was carried out because it was experiencing shallowing due to sedimentation of mud and waste.
"We dredge the channel up to 60 cm deep to let channel receive more rainwater. It is targeted for completion in one day," she said, Wednesday (12/17).
Deby explained that the mud sediment and waste resulting from the dredging are then dumped into the Rambutan I Reservoir area located in RW 06, Rambutan Urban Village.
"Hopefully this effort will prevent inundation or even flood," she hoped.
Meanwhile, Head of Susukan Urban Village, Puja Akbar Sahroni, appreciated the quick response of the unit.
"This channel needs to be dredged to prevent inundation in rainy season," he stated.
