The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has declared its full readiness to secure and facilitate public movement during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 celebrations.

We guarantee a safe holiday experience in Jakarta

Various anticipatory measures have been prepared, involving both personnel and fleet deployment, to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety during the long holiday period.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo, stated 2,500 personnel remain ready to provide security and services throughout Christmas and New Year.

They will be deployed at various strategic points, ranging from land to sea sectors, including transportation services for Seribu Islands residents.

"For the maritime sector, we're focusing on serving the community in Seribu Islands. Meanwhile, on land, we have stationed personnel at four main terminals and three auxiliary terminals to ensure that public movement to and from Jakarta is well-facilitated via public transport," he expressed, Wednesday (12/17).

Besides transportation hubs, the agency is also prioritizing security and traffic regulation in tourist areas anticipated to experience a surge in visitors during the holidays.

Major tourist destinations such as Ragunan Zoo, National Monument (Monas), Ancol, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), Setu Babakan, Kota Tua, and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) are receiving primary attention.

"We're applying traffic management and diversion strategies at these tourist locations. At Ragunan and Monas for instance, as well as Ancol and PIK. Regarding Taman Mini, we have also coordinated measures in the event of visitor congestion," he explained.

As for the fleet, various operational vehicles will support traffic regulation and the handling of on-ground disturbances. Approximately 80 tow trucks have been prepared for service, supported by 46 patrol cars and two mobile Variable Message Sign (VMS) units.

"They will provide real-time information to the public regarding traffic arrangements, particularly during periods of congestion. At Ragunan for instance, a one-way entry system might be implemented in the morning and a one-way exit system in the afternoon, contingent upon the situation in the field," he explained.

He further noted that Dishub has added four tourist boats this year to support marine tourism services to Seribu Islands. In principle, they are ready to serve the public.

However, boat operations remain contingent upon weather conditions based on forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"This year, there is an addition of four vessel units. However, departures to the Thousand Islands are heavily dependent on situational and weather conditions. As seen over the last two days, following coordination with the Port Authority (KSOP), we were forced to temporarily suspend boat services due to unfavorable weather," he revealed.

He added that the agency ensures that residents choosing to spend their holidays in Jakarta can feel safe. The Jakarta government keeps heightening vigilance given the potential for extreme weather during December 2025 to January 2026.

"We guarantee a safe holiday experience in Jakarta. Following the BMKG forecast, there is a potential for extreme rainfall; therefore, all ranks have coordinated effectively and are fully prepared to respond to various contingencies," he concluded.
