Jakarta needs preachers who deliver their messages
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasized the crucial role of preachers in maintaining Jakarta’s atmosphere as safe, comfortable, and peaceful. Hence, he reminded dai (male preachers) and daiyah (female preachers) to convey messages that bring tranquility to the community.
He conveyed this message while officiating the closing ceremony of the "Grand Final Dai-Daiyah Pilihan Piala Gubernur" (Governor’s Cup Chosen Preachers Grand Final) at the Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall.
"Jakarta needs preachers who deliver their messages in a soothing manner. Because currently in Jakarta, Alhamdulillah (thank God), nearly all religious activities proceed safely, comfortably, peacefully, and happily," he expressed, Wednesday (12/17).
He then alluded to various religious events held at the National Monument (Monas) that were conducted in an orderly fashion. This demonstrates that the current condition of Jakarta is tranquil and peaceful.
During the event, he also reminded the preachers to remain consistent in their conduct, both while on stage and in their daily lives. He urged them not to fall into the trap of a lavish lifestyle flaunted on social media.
Further, he reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a harmonious relationship between religious scholars (ulama) and the government (umara). This is aimed at upholding the spirit of Islam as a blessing for the entire universe (Rahmatan lil 'Alamin).
"So, in various matters, I strictly ensure that the relationship between religious scholars and the government functions well," he asserted.
