The fire that burned 10 food stalls on Jalan Utan Jati, RT 10/11, Pegadungan Urban Village, Kalideres District, West Jakarta was successfully extinguished.

Head of West Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency, Suheri said the fire incident was reported at 1:18 PM.

"We deployed 18 firetrucks and 90 personnel. The personnel were also assisted by 14 firefighter volunteers," he said, Tuesday (12/16).

He explained that the growing fire, strong winds, and the flammable building materials made it somewhat difficult for firefighters. As a result, the fire was only brought under control at 1:49 PM.

Suheri added that the incident is thought to have originated from the negligence of the stall owner who forgot to turn off the stove.

"There were no fatalities in this incident. The fire was successfully extinguished by 2:58," he added.

Meanwhile, Sajiman (67) admitted he saw the fire at 1 PM. The fire quickly spread to other semi-permanent buildings.

"Thankfully the firefighters quickly came to manage the fire," he admitted.
