Victims of recent tidal floods on Panggang and Pramuka Islands received staple food assistance from the Seribu Islands Regency administration today, Friday (12/12).

I hope it can be implemented promptly next year

Seribu Islands Regent, Muhammad Fadjar Churniawan said, today's delivery of 30 aid packages at Panggang Island Pier serves as a preliminary step, with a comprehensive rollout scheduled for next Tuesday (12/16).

"Alhamdulillah (thank God), we have distributed aid to the victims in several islands. Hopefully, this will be of benefit to the community," he asserted.

He also thanked the police, military personnel, and the community for helping accelerate the coordination of handling the tidal floods in the field.

"Inter-agency collaboration is crucial for the region's readiness in dealing with extreme weather and tidal surges," he added.

Beyond the aid distribution, the IPB team also conducted a preliminary survey today for the proposed Fishermen's Village. The project is slated to reach the implementation stage by 2026.

"I hope it can be implemented promptly next year," he added.

The aid distribution received appreciation from the resident from Panggang Island, RT 06/01, Saidah (55).

"Thank God, this helps a lot with our daily necessities. We were at a loss on how to cook recently because our house was flooded," he continued.

He also hopes for government efforts to reduce the risk of tidal flooding, which frequently strikes his neighborhood.

"Hopefully, there will be a future solution so that the floods do not occur so often. We just want to live in comfort and peace," he closed.
