The Jakarta government has allocated 15 tons of food stocks to Seribu Islands. This distribution serves as a strategic effort to support the upcoming Christmas and New Year, ensuring the stability of commodity prices, specifically in Seribu Islands.

The distribution of these food supplies is the result of a collaboration between Jakarta government and Jakarta Branch Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office.
"Today, we're working together to welcome Christmas and New Year in Seribu Islands; the principle is that prices should be the same as on the mainland," stated Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung at Marina Ancol Pier, Ancol, North Jakarta, Thursday (12/11).
He explained the 15 tons of food staples comprise seven key commodities aimed at maintaining price parity between the Seribu Islands and the mainland. Distribution is being facilitated by three vessels from Bank Indonesia and two from the Transportation Agency.
He hopes that the prices of staple goods in Seribu Islands remain stable. He also asserted that the Jakarta government is ready to send extra supplies if there are signs of rising prices. Pramono wants food prices to remain controlled leading up to Christmas and New Year.
The food commodities distributed today consist of three tons of rice, three tons of sugar, three tons of cooking oil in one-liter packs, four tons of cooking oil in two-liter packs, one ton of chicken meat, 300 kg of canned biscuits, 700 kg of syrup, as well as chilies and onions.
Pramono explained that Jakarta's inflation in November 2025 stood at 2.29 percent (year-to-date) or 2.67 percent (year-on-year). Based on trends from previous years, inflation in December is projected to rise by approximately 0.4 percent.
As information, in general, food prices in Seribu Islands tend to be higher than on the mainland. This is attributed to high transportation or distribution costs resulting from weather conditions.
