Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung was a speaker at the Main Forum of the 2025 Indonesia Sports Summit, which carried the theme 'Collaborative Development for a Sustainable Sports Infrastructure Ecosystem' at the Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Saturday (12/6).
Jakarta will continue to build a sustainable and modern sports ecosystem
Pramono emphasized that collaboration between the central government and the Jakarta Provincial Government is the
key to developing a sustainable sports ecosystem to create modern, inclusive infrastructure that will impact the city's quality.
Pramono said that as a form of contribution to the development of sports tourism and athlete development, Jakarta is always ready to host various national sporting events when requested.
"Sports will not run optimally without collaboration between stakeholders," he said.
He explained that the Jakarta Provincial Government is currently preparing various programs to encourage Jakarta to become a top 50 global city by 2030.
In the context of sports, Pramono highlighted the importance of utilizing large sports facilities such as the Jakarta International Stadium, Velodrome, and Equestrian Park, which are continuously being improved and developed to meet international standards.
"I am also committed to making Persija an icon of the capital city by providing facilities, a club museum, and improving the quality of the stadium as a representative home base," he explained.
Jakarta Provincial Government is also encouraging the holding of large-scale sporting events such as the Jakarta International Marathon and the Jakarta Running Festival to be upgraded to major marathons.
Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing to improve the quality of the event, including city mobility engineering and the construction of new connectivity such as the Ancol-JIS connecting bridge to support the comfort of participants and spectators.
Pramono added that Jakarta has begun developing a number of new public spaces and sports areas such as the Bulungan Sport Complex, the revitalization of Blok S Field, and the development of a sports-recreational area in Sunter designed to meet the needs of the community while supporting sports tourism.
"This effort is run through a government and private sector cooperation scheme so that development does not depend entirely on the regional budget," he added.
Pramono emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is key to accelerating development. He continued that the Jakarta Provincial Government is open to collaborations on revitalizing city parks, utilizing space under toll roads, organizing transportation, and implementing a transit-oriented development concept at various strategic locations, such as Ancol, Dukuh Atas, Bundaran HI, and Kota Tua.
Those infrastructures are prepared to strengthen the sports and healthy lifestyle ecosystem in Jakarta.
"Jakarta will continue to build a sustainable and modern sports ecosystem for the future. The Jakarta Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with the central government and international parties in organizing any sporting event, as long as it makes a real contribution to Jakarta's progress," he stated.
