North Jakarta Health Sub-agency is accelerating the socialization Community-based Total Sanitation (STBM) program in four urban villages.

North Jakarta Head Section of Disease Prevention and Handling of the sub-agency, Ika Dewi Subandiyah said the main urban villages target of the socialization are Marunda, Kalibaru, Cilincing and Penjaringan.

"Today's monitoring and socialization is run in Marunda Urban Village," she said, Friday (12/5).

According to Ika, those four urban villages have not reached Open Defecation Free (ODF) status yet. The declaration to be held in the near future.

"All urban villages in North Jakarta must reach ODF status 100 percent," she added.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Assistant of Administration and Community Welfare, Muhammad Andri stated his side has built public toilet facilities to achieve ODF conditions in North Jakarta.

"We have also collaborated with several private parties to build communal septic tanks for underprivileged residents," he stated.

Moreover, Head of Marunda Urban Village, Victor Hotma Parulian Deo, admitted his side is ready to declare ODF. The construction of independent and communal septic tanks in several locations in the area has been completed.

"There's still one remaining location in RW 02 due to limited land and conditions. We plan to expedite construction of the communal septic tank this week," he admitted.
