Fire burned nine rent houses on Jalan Kayu Tinggi, RT 08/05 Cakung Timur, Cakung, East Jakarta, Wednesday (12/3) at 8:14 PM. The incident is allegedly caused by an electrical short.

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency Officer, Nyaman said the large number of flammable items caused the fire to quickly grow and burn down the nine semi-permanent houses.
"The extinguishing at the incident location was hampered by narrow access to the incident location, with a distance of approximately 1.5 kilometers from the main road," he said, Thursday (12/4).
He added that his rank deployed 12 firetrucks with 60 personnel. The extinguishing started at 8:27 PM, then at 8:59 PM the cooling was carried out and at 9:49 PM the extinguishing was declared complete.
"There were no casualties in this incident," he added.
Meanwhile, a local resident, Budi (49), explained the exact cause of the fire was not known because he was inside the house. As soon as he heard the loud noise, he immediately went outside and saw thick smoke rising from inside one of the rented houses.
"Then the fire grew bigger from inside the house. Residents tried to extinguish the fire with whatever equipment they had, but they were unsuccessful and the fire continued to grow," he explained.
Luckily, the firefighters quickly arrived at the scene, so the fire was successfully extinguished and did not spread to other buildings in the surrounding area.
