Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, is optimistic that the inflation rate in Jakarta will be maintained well until the end of this year, projected to be around 2.6-2.7 percent.

Jakarta will be well maintained

This controlled inflation rate is expected to help drive Jakarta's economic growth, which is estimated to reach around five percent.

Pramono delivered this message while opening the High Level Meeting (HLM) of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) and the Regional Digitalization Expansion and Acceleration Team (TP2DD) at Sari Pacific, Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/4).

"Hopefully, by the end of the year or December, inflation in Jakarta will be between 2.6-2.7 percent, and if we can maintain that, then it will align with the target set by the central government of 2.5 plus 1 percent. Thus, Jakarta will be well maintained," he expressed.

Ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations, Pramono emphasized two important things to maintain: the momentum of inflation control and the availability of food supplies.

Inflation control can be achieved, among other ways, through the optimization of digitalization. Despite digitalization in Jakarta is deemed to be better than in other provinces, he mentioned the need to optimize digitalization because of its important role in controlling inflation.

One of the ways to optimize digitalization is by continuing the digitalization competition that was previously held in markets. This step successfully increased digital users in the markets by 47 percent. Hence, the digitalization competition will also be expanded to malls and shops ahead of Christmas and New Year.

"I just mentioned celebrating Christmas and New Year at malls, stores, and the like. The competition isn't just about the festivities, decorating with ornaments, and so on, but also about discounts and similar offers that we will compete in," he explained.

He also highlighted the need to improve the digital society index in Jakarta, which is currently at 56.97 percent. He emphasized that Jakarta's digitalization benchmark must be on par with global cities such as Tokyo, Beijing, New York, and Berlin.

He assessed, digitalization should already be able to be implemented across all layers of Jakarta's society. He also urged BUMD and related agencies to ensure the availability of supplies and control food prices.

"I will go to the field to directly observe traditional markets, especially in Kramat Jati as a benchmark for the prices in Jakarta and the availability of supplies, which is also very important," he explained.

Jakarta City Secretary, Uus Kuswanto reported this activity to discuss efforts to maintain food security and control inflation in facing the Christmas and New Year in Jakarta. Additionally, the acceleration of regional digitization to realize Jakarta as a global city was also discussed.

"This discussion will also be organized through activities related to transportation readiness, disaster risk mitigation, and personnel preparedness during the New Year transition," he stated.
