The North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) repairs the collapsed retaining wall and road at Sunter C River, Jalan Danau Sunter Utara, Sunter Agung Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district.
We fix it permanently
This quick action was taken to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of residents.
North Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Heria Suwandi said, the retaining wall collapsed due to factors such as age, tree roots, and high rainfall intensity over the past few months. These conditions caused the embankment and roadbed to gradually tilt and erode.
"The same incident happened in mid-November and has been fixed. And now we fix it permanently," he expressed, Wednesday (12/3).
He explained, the collapsed section of the retaining wall and road has 1.5 meters wide and temporarily disrupted the activities of passing drivers at the location.
"We deployed 12 personnel to fix it. We also deployed one excavator for dredging," he explained.
He added everything went smoothly, but personnel must work extra carefully because of the electrical cables on the edge of the retaining wall.
"It will finish in early January 2026. We also plan to do another repair on the west side," he added.
The work received appreciation from Sunter Agung Urban Village Head, Teguh Subroto.
"When the road and retaining wall collapsed, we immediately reported it and it was promptly addressed. Hopefully, the repairs can be done gradually because many parts are already tilted," he explained.
Meanwhile, one of the private employees working around the area also appreciates the personnel’s efforts in making repairs. Hopefully, this could be completed soon for the comfort of everyone.
"Hope it can be finished quickly because the rainy season has started," he stated.
