The construction of Krukut River embankment along Jalan NIS segment in Cilandak Timur Urban Village, Pasar Minggu Sub-district, South Jakarta, is being accelerated, with current progress reaching 83 percent.
"...we're working to raise and reinforce the embankment to prevent flooding in nearby neighborhoods,"
South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar conveyed that the embankment construction aims to prevent water from overflowing into residential areas when the river's water level rises.
"Given the frequent overflow in this area, we're working to raise and reinforce the embankment to prevent flooding in nearby neighborhoods," he asserted, Tuesday (2/12).
In addition to building a higher embankment, he has instructed South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency to increase the capacity of nearby water pumps to minimize the risk of flooding during local rainfall or runoff from Bogor.
"The target is to finish this month. Hopefully, it will function optimally in addressing the flooding issues here," he mentioned.
Meanwhile, Head of South Jakarta SDA Sub-agency, Santo, said the 700-meter-long and four-meter-high embankment has been under construction since August 2025 and is expected to be completed by mid-December.
"So far, we've completed 580 meters of the embankment, with 120 meters still under construction," he concluded.
