Some 40 personnel from the Satpol PP, North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency, and North Jakarta Social Sub-agency, cracked down on nine street vendors along Jalan Danau Sunter Barat, Sunter Agung Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district.

They (street vendors) violate rules

Tanjung Priok Sub-district Satpol PP Head, Mardanih said, this is a regular program in seven urban villages of Tanjung Priok Sub-district with the aim of maintaining public order and restoring the function of the sidewalks.

"They (street vendors) violate rules that have disturbed comfort and may threaten the safety of others," he expressed, Monday (12/1).

During the raid, his personnel managed to block the street vendors at the location.

"We have always reminded residents not to use the sidewalks for selling goods. After cleaning, patrols will be conducted regularly," he explained.

He continued, this operation was conducted as road facilities are very important and also to provide comfort and safety for the community.

"Our personnel will keep monitoring locations or activities deemed to cause congestion or disturb residents' comfort," he asserted.

This operation received appreciation from Sunter Agung Urban Village Head, Teguh Subroto.

"This is in line with our current activities of arranging the area in RW 04, Jalan Danau Sunter Barat. We'll make the area cleaner, more aesthetic, and greener," he added.

Another appreciation also came from a local resident, Anwar (36).

"With this, it becomes cleaner, more pleasant to look at, and no longer any disturbances for residents when using the sidewalk," he stated.
