The mosquito nest eradication activity was held at RT 01 up to 06 of RW 01, Rawa Badak Utara Urban Village, Koja District, North Jakarta. The activity targeted 30 resident houses to eradicate mosquito nests.
It's the rainy season
This weekly routine activity is carried out by the Mosquito Larvae Monitoring Officer (Jumantik) cadres as an early mitigation measure against the potential spread of Dengue Fever cases, especially entering the rainy season.
Head of Rawa Badak Utara Urban Village, Ester Laura Kartini said inspection was carried out at potential points that could become mosquito breeding grounds.
"It's the rainy season, so we need to be extra vigilant. We're checking potential mosquito breeding sites to prevent dengue fever," she said, Friday (11/28).
She explained that each RT cadre run inspections on at least five houses to ensure that residents have implemented the steps of Draining, Closing, Recycling, and Plus actions (3M Plus).
"Mosquito mutations are very fast," she explained.
Although Rawa Badak Utara currently has zero dengue fever cases, Ester assessed that this activity remains important as a reminder and appeal to the public to routinely carry out prevention and eradication of mosquito nests independently.
Meanwhile, activity coordinator of RW 01 Rawa Badak Utara, Ayu (36) explained the mosquito nest activities have been running routinely for a long time. Inspections focus on water reservoirs such as bathtubs, buckets, flower pots, dispensers, water pipes, and more.
"Inspections of several residents' houses yielded clean results and no mosquito larvae were found," she stated.
