The progress of dredging the connecting channel on Jalan Kramat Jaya Raya, Koja Sub-district, North Jakarta, has reached 75 percent.

We can do our activities safely and comfortably

So far, the personnel have removed 2,660 cubic meters of mud and trash.

Koja Sub-district Water Resources Executing Unit (SDA) Head, Slamet Riyanto said, the dredging along 2.3 kilometers has been underway since December 2024.

"It is started from Lima Semper Intersection, Tugu Utara Urban Village until near the Kramat Raya Traffic Light in Lago Urban Village," he expressed, Friday (11/28).

He explained, the work takes longer because it is hindered by the infrastructure built by residents. Certainly, excavation measures are required.

"Prior to excavation, we will carry out demolition by sending six personnel and heavy equipment," he explained.

This is a direct attention from Jakarta North Mayor, Hendra Hidayat, as the road has often flooded during heavy rain, reaching a height of up to 20 centimeters.

"The progress has reached 75 percent. The blue team has successfully transported 2,660 cubic meters of mud and trash from the site," he explained.

He hoped that it could minimize flooding on Jalan Kramat Jaya and smoothen the flow of the water in the channel.

"It will be completed next month or the end of December 2025," he added.

This dredging work received appreciation from Lagoa Urban Village Head, Yuyun Wahyudi.

"I'm very happy. Despite it's still not completely finished, floods have become infrequent, and of course, we can do our activities safely and comfortably," she stated.
