Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung appreciated the support from the German Government and the European Union in accelerating Jakarta's digital transformation. This support was provided through various capacity building programs, including the Smart Change initiative.

Pramono conveyed this during a meeting with the leaders of GIZ (German Corporation for International Cooperation) and representatives of BMZ (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development) at Rotes Rathaus, Berlin on Monday (11/24).

Besides being a beneficiary, Jakarta is also an active partner contributing to building the future city model based on innovation and global collaboration.

"I want to emphasize that the partnership between Jakarta and Berlin through GIZ is not just administrative cooperation. It is a joint effort to push the boundaries of innovation so that the city becomes more humane, inclusive, and efficient," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta government's press release, Friday (11/28).

This meeting aims to expand Jakarta's international network in digital governance, urban innovation, and sustainable mobility. One of the main agendas of the meeting is to strengthen the Jakarta Future City Hub, which has now developed as a collaborative platform among the government, startups, academics, and civil society.

Through this program, Jakarta and GIZ have produced 40 policy recommendations, supported 89 startups, trained 24 incubation institutions, and involved more than 15,800 participants in innovation-based public programs.

"Jakarta Future City Hub is not a short-term project. It is a collaborative foundation for Jakarta's digital transformation moving forward. We're committed to ensuring that The Hub continues to live, grow, and serve as a policy experimentation space based on data and innovation," he continued.

Besides the digital sector, this meeting also discussed plans to expand cooperation in the green mobility sector. This collaboration focuses on developing public transportation based on clean energy as well as digitizing services to improve residents' mobility quality.

Jakarta aims to operate 10,000 electric buses by 2030. He also opens opportunities for collaboration in research, pilot projects, as well as the utilization of big data and artificial intelligence for fleet management and route planning.

"There is potential for collaboration in the digitalization of TransJakarta, the implementation of Mobility as a Service, and cross-mode data integration. This not only makes transportation more efficient but also more comfortable, more accessible, and more environmentally friendly for residents," he explained.

This collaboration will serve as an example of a strategic partnership between cities worldwide in facing global urbanization challenges. It also invites GIZ to deepen technical collaboration in the next phase of city transformation.

"I believe that our journey is still long. If we continue this partnership with vision and courage, we won't only solve Jakarta's challenges but also inspire other cities in Asia and around the world," he stated.
