The repair work on the Swasembada River's retaining wall on Jalan Swasembada Barat XXIV to XXII, RW 04, Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta, is currently 70 percent complete.
This is done manually involving 13 personnel
Tanjung Priok Sub-district Water Resources (SDA) Executing Unit Head, Neti Heriati said, the repair of the retaining wall with 1.2 high meters is being conducted along 90 meters. It has been ongoing since October 24 and is targeted to be completed by early December 2025.
"This is a follow-up to the members' recess proposal of the Jakarta City Council," she expressed, Tuesday (11/25).
According to her, the repair was conducted, as the retaining wall often eroded due to high water flow and aging.
"This is done manually involving 13 personnel. The construction of this retaining wall uses materials such as river stones and dolken wood, then the top of the retaining wall is plastered," she explained.
By doing so, residents will feel safer and more comfortable. Moreover, the river will be more optimal in minimizing the potential for flooding or inundation.
"Hopefully, it can be done on time. We also urge locals to maintain this river," she added.
The repair itself received appreciation from one of residents from RT 03/04, Kebon Bawang Urban Village, Ade Samer (52).
"Thank you, and I hope that with this improvement, there will no longer be floods," he stated.
