As many as six PPSU personnel were deployed to dredge the water channel on Jalan Bunga Dalam 2, RT 04/09, Palmeriam Urban Village, Matraman District, East Jakarta.

Head of Palmeriam Urban Village, Setiawan said the dredging was run since garbage blocked the water channel. This condition surely triggers inundation when rain pours.

"We deploy six personnel to dredge the 40-meter-long water channel," he said.

He again reminded residents to work together to maintain environmental cleanliness, including by not throwing rubbish carelessly into water channels.

"The garbage removed from the drains was predominantly plastic. This garbage can cause blockages and shallowing. Let's keep our drains clean," he reminded.

Meanwhile, Slamet (41), a local resident, appreciates the Palmeriam Urban Village ranks for cleaning the channel.

"The impact of garbage piling up in drains not only increases mosquitoes but also spreads an unpleasant odor. The abundance of mosquitoes raises concerns that residents could contract dengue fever," he admitted.
