Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, presented graduation certificates to 13 female drivers at the Graduation Ceremony for the TransJakarta Women Empowerment Program: Special Driving Training for Women at PT Transportasi Jakarta, Cawang, East Jakarta, Monday (10/11).
I believe this program is very good
This program is the result of collaboration between PT TransJakarta, ITDP Indonesia, and UNEP as a commitment to building an inclusive and sustainable public transportation ecosystem.
"I believe this program is very good. Several times I have taken Transjakarta on Wednesdays, when the driver is a woman it is usually more orderly, neater, more comfortable, and I also feel more at ease," he said.
The Governor asked PT TransJakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza to continue this program. He aims to significantly increase the percentage of female TransJakarta drivers, from 2-3 percent to over 10 percent.
According to Pramono, this PT Transjakarta program provides space for women to become drivers in TransJakarta transportation.
Pramono also highlighted Jakarta's improved ranking as a global city. The Jakarta City Index has risen from 74th to 71st out of 156 cities.
Based on the results of the Time Out survey regarding public facilities, Jakarta is ranked 17th out of 50 major cities in the world and outperforms cities such as Bangkok, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) President Director Welfizon Yuza reported public enthusiasm for registering for the Women's Empowerment program. Of the 100 applicants, 15 women were selected to participate in the training scholarship program.
After 23 days of intensive training, 13 participants have successfully completed the female-only driver training program.
During the training, participants are equipped with technical bus driving skills through theoretical training, hands-on practice at the competency testing center, and hands-on practice on Transjakarta operational routes. They are also trained to develop a sense of responsibility, discipline, and professionalism.
"20 qualified Transjakarta drivers will receive intensive training, starting from Japanese language training, technical and non-technical skills, to preparation for departure to Japan," he stated.
