Sunter River C Being Dredged as a Flood Prevention Measure

As many as 10,807 cubic meters of mud have been dredged from Sunter River C on Jalan Danau Utara, Sunter Agung Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-district, North Jakarta. The dredging progress has reached 85 percent.

This aims to accommodate water in large quantities

North Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) Head, Heria Suwandi said, this is part of the effort to prevent flooding and inundation in the area.

"This aims to accommodate water in large quantities and to smoothen the flow of water to minimize the potential for flooding," he expressed, Monday (11/10).

He explained, the Sunter Rivrt C with five meters wide was dredged along 3,536 meters, with mud depths reaching from 1.5 meters to two meters.

"Six personnel and two heavy equipments type long arm and amphibious were sent to the location," he explained.

He added, it has been underway since February 2025 and is targeted to be finished by the end of this December 2025. Everyday, five dump trucks with five cubic capacity are deployed to transport the mud.

"The mud was disposed of at the Ancol Power Plant dumping site. Everything went as it should," he added.

This work received appreciation from Hafiz (42).

"This is good and very important. Besides being clean, the channel will be able to hold more water and can also prevent flooding during heavy rains," he stated.
