The South Jakarta City administration continues to intensify the handling of falling and leaning trees in South Jakarta. This aims to improve public safety and comfort amid the current weather conditions, which include heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.

South Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar said, pruning is done to minimize the risk of falling and leaning trees that could endanger drivers and pedestrians.

"We instruct related parties to jointly increase awareness of the environment, including promptly pruning trees that pose a danger so that negative incidents do not happen again," he expressed, Monday (11/10).

He encourages residents to report if there are trees with uprooted roots or fallen trunks, which can be reported through the nearest urban village or sub-district authorities so that it can be addressed promptly.

"Tree pruning is still ongoing for the next few days. Hence, residents passing through are advised to be careful when passing the work location," he explained.

South Jakarta Parks and City Forest Sub-agency's Green Belt Section Head, Arwin Adlin Barus explained, 57 trees were pruned yesterday. Fifteen trees in Pulo Urban Village, seventeen in Lenteng Agung Urban Village, six in Petukangan Selatan Urban Village, and two in Lebak Bulus Urban Village.

Then also three each in Tebet Barat, Bangka and Petogongan urban villages, as well as four in Kebayoran Lama Urban Village.

"The same work is also spotted in Lebak Bulus, Guntur, Kalibata, Pasar Minggu, Gunung, and Pulo with one tree each," he explained.

Hopefully, there would be no more fallen trees during heavy rain accompanied by strong winds in South Jakarta.

"We continue to make preventive efforts and also urge the community to report if there are fallen or leaning trees," he stated.
