Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated 1,840 administrative and supervisory officials under the Jakarta government yesterday, Wednesday (11/5).

This inauguration held in the yard of Jakarta City Hall was conducted based on the Jakarta Governor Decree No. 996/2025.

"Today, at the City Hall, as the Governor, I inaugurated 1,840 officials of echelon III and IV," he expressed.

In his speech, Pramono emphasized that this inauguration is part of an ongoing effort to organize the bureaucracy and implement a fair and transparent merit-based system.

Through this policy, he wants to ensure that every position within the Jakarta government is filled by civil servants with the capacity to provide optimal public services.

"In the process, we do it openly through a meritocracy. OPD proposes, evaluated by BKD and also the Regional Secretary, of course, in coordination with the Deputy Governor," he explained.

The inauguration for Echelon III and IV positions in the second phase will also be conducted soon as a step to accelerate efforts to strengthen organizational performance, promote development acceleration, and improve the quality of public services for the Jakarta community.

With this inauguration, all Jakarta posts previously held by acting officials have now been resolved.

"Hopefully, it will be completed entirely by this November," he hoped.

He hoped that the newly inaugurated officials could start working immediately to provide the best service for Jakarta residents. He said, this position is a great responsibility that requires integrity, competence, and innovation to realize various priority programs outlined in the Jakarta RPJMD.

He explained that the promotion and transfer of administrative and supervisory positions are based on considerations and proposals from the heads of each OPD. All stages have received technical recommendations and considerations from the Head of the State Civil Service Agency and approval from the Home Minister.

Further, he also highlighted Jakarta's challenges, especially the increasing Gini ratio which is projected to reach 0.423 in 2024. Hence, he specifically asked the newly appointed officials to support the head of OPD in formulating inclusive and equitable policies.

He hoped that all levels of his staff could build strong and harmonious synergy in running their duties and ensure that the bureaucracy operates efficiently.

"We must continue to innovate in providing the best service to the community while prioritizing the principles of accountability, transparency, and responsiveness to the needs of the community," he continued.

As the end of 2025 approaches, Jakarta faces threats of extreme weather, including potential floods, strong winds, and falling trees. In addition, issues such as land subsidence, air pollution, and waste and waste management also remain urgent challenges.

He believes that through synergy and shared commitment, the negative impacts of extreme weather can be managed.

"In facing various challenges, I once again urge all newly appointed officials to continue maintaining the spirit of Jaga Jakarta (keep Jakarta safe)," he closed.
