Chairman of Jakarta City Council's Commission B, Nova Harivan Paloh emphasized the importance of improving intermodal transportation facilities on the Seribu Islands region to facilitate inter-island mobility for residents.
Residents between these islands need to be facilitated
"We also conveyed the importance of intermodal crossings on the Seribu Islands. Residents between these islands need to be facilitated. It can be done by adding the ships, for example," he said, Tuesday (11/4).
He added that the commission has discussed and agreed the plan of adding ships to strengthen the inter-island connectivity.
"The main problem there is transportation. Therefore, we agreed to add ships in yesterday's discussion," he added.
He continued that the number of ships that can be added is still limited due to budget constraints.
According to him, the Transportation Agency will add three ships next year to serve residents living on the islands.
"The ships will be operated by the agency directly," he stated.
