Jakarta contingents are solidly at the top of the provisional standings at the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) XVII 2025.
This will motivate other sports
Based on the current standings up to Monday (11/3) at 8 PM, Jakarta led with a total of 13 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals, totaling 25 medals.
Central Java ranks second with 5 gold, 4 silver, and 7 bronze medals (16 medals), followed by East Java in third place with 4 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze medals (19 medals).
The swimming became the biggest contributor with 4 gold medals, followed by weightlifting which also secured 4 gold medals. Then taekwondo added 2 gold medals, along with 1 gold medal each from wrestling and cycling.
"Alhamdulillah (thank God), Jakarta has won more than one-third of the 36 gold medals contested today. Hope this will motivate other sports to keep us leading day by day to become the overall champion," expressed Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Head, Andri Yansyah, Tuesday (11/4).
With many branches still entering the final phase, Jakarta is determined to maintain consistent performance to stay at the top of the standings until the end of the event.
"Jakarta contingent is confident they can secure the overall champion title as planned and continue to demonstrate their best achievements on their home turf," he stated.
