The Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency through the Worker's Health and Safety (K3) Company Hygiene Center held a Focus Group Discussion themed 'Synergy of Government and Company Policies to Create a Safe and Healthy Work Environment', Thursday (10/30).

K3 issue has a very strategic position in Jakarta

This activity serves as a forum for collaboration between the government and the business world in strengthening efforts to implement K3 comprehensively in the work environment, especially in the Jakarta area as the center of national economic activity.

Head of Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency, Syaripudin emphasized the importance of worker's safety and health as a key pillar of sustainable workforce development.

"The K3 issue has a very strategic position in Jakarta, which is the center of national economic activity," he said.

According to data from the Ministry of Manpower, there were over 462,000 workplace accidents in Indonesia in 2024. Jakarta ranked quite high, with 23,399 cases recorded through the Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan). Compared to the formal workforce in Jakarta of approximately 3.19 million, the annual accident rate reached 733 cases per 100,000 workers.

"It is hoped that the FGD will also produce concrete steps in strengthening policy synergy and cross-sector collaboration," he added.

Syaripudin highlighted five key areas of focus for strengthening worker's health and safety that require collective attention. Those are strengthening K3 implementation in all business sectors, particularly construction, transportation, logistics, and public services. Furthermore, integrating regional government policies with occupational accident and illness prevention programs within companies.

Next are the use of digital technology for K3 reporting, monitoring, and education; increasing the capacity of K3 human resources in government, the business world, and workers; and developing a collaborative ecosystem between the Jakarta Provincial Government, educational institutions, professional associations, and industry.
