Jakarta Provincial Government is about to make the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center into an attractive educational tourism destination to attract visitors, especially animal and culinary lovers.
enhances their welfare
Head of Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency, Elisabeth Rante Allo said the construction of the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center is part of the trading activities arrangement that were previously located in Barito, South Jakarta.
According to her, the arrangement was carried out to provide more suitable and representative business space for traders, while maintaining the ecological function of the park, and supporting a more environmentally friendly city plan.
"Previously, Barito traders occupied temporary locations with limited facilities. We aim to provide a solution that not only improves the city's spatial planning but also enhances their welfare through this arrangement," she said, Monday (10/27).
She explained that the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center is built on a modernly landscaped site with a total of 125 stalls divided into several zones according to their function and type of business.
Zone A (culinary) consists of 22 stalls, Zone B (amphitheater) has 70 seats, Zones C and D (bird and animal feed traders) have 74 stalls, and Zone E (parcels and additional culinary) has 29 stalls.
This location is also equipped with public facilities such as restrooms, a prayer room, and a spacious parking area. The Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center also offers an arts and cultural performance area and a social interaction space, making it a new, family-friendly recreational destination.
The location is very strategic since it is near the Lenteng Agung KRL Station, and is served by various modes of public transportation such as Transjakarta route 4B (Manggarai–UI), D21 (Lebak Bulus–UI), and Jaklingko 44 (Andara–Lenteng Agung), so it is easily accessible by residents.
The agency will hold an area activation by presenting various thematic activities such as cultural arts performances, fauna education, animal health roadshows, as well as promotional and community events.
"It becomes a promotional event for traders to become better known to the wider community," she added.
Through its diverse potential and facilities, this area is expected to become a 'New Hidden Gem' for Jakarta residents and tourists seeking culinary experiences and interactions with fauna in a comfortable and orderly atmosphere.
The Jakarta Provincial Government is also providing special support to the relocated traders here. Various forms of transition assistance and incentives are being provided, including the right to choose a premium location for traders who choose to relocate early, as well as free kiosk rent for six months.
Traders also receive access to entrepreneurship training, digital education, business mentoring, promotions, and product development through a collaborative program with Jakpreneur. This initiative aligns with the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to build a resilient and competitive people's economic ecosystem.
"We want to ensure that the redevelopment of this area not only transforms the face of the city but also brings direct economic benefits to the community. This area is not just a place for commerce, but a new public space that fosters social interaction, preserves environmental values, and strengthens Jakarta's identity," she stated.
