Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung officially released the Jakarta Contingent for the National Student Sports Week XVII (POPNAS) and the National Student Para-Peace Games XI (PEPARPENAS) 2025, at the Jakarta City Hall courtyard, Friday (24/10).

In his speech, Pramono hopes that the Jakarta contingent will be able to win the overall champion title in both events, and at the same time become the center of sports achievements in Indonesia.

"I hope we can achieve the overall champion title," he expressed.

This year, Jakarta will host POPNAS and PEPARPENAS, which will be held from November 1 to 10, 2025. These events are the largest biennial sports competitions organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Besides nurturing outstanding talent in sports, this also fosters sportsmanship, instills discipline, and strengthens the character of Indonesia's young generation.

"This is a great opportunity for Jakarta to showcase the achievements of athletes and also demonstrate its capacity as a city ready to host national student sports events," he explained.

Pramono also appreciated the hard work and dedication of the entire contingent, from athletes, coaches, managers, to officials who have prepared themselves through long training and high discipline.

He also urged the athletes to compete wholeheartedly, uphold sportsmanship, and serve as role models for sports patriots.

The Jakarta gvernment will keep strengthening the student sports ecosystem through ongoing development, providing adequate facilities, and awarding athletes who achieve excellence.

"We want to ensure that every young Indonesian has the same opportunity, to grow, compete, and excel," he expressed.

Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency (Dispora) Head, Andri Yansyah, reported that the total Jakarta contingents participating numbered 786 people. The details are, the POPNAS contingent consists of 676 people, including 391 athletes, 50 coaches, 55 assistant coaches, and 179 officials. The PEPARPENAS contingent totals 110 people, including 50 athletes, 11 coaches, 8 assistant coaches, and 41 officials.

He explained that this event aims to measure the results of student sports development, improve competition experience, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among athletes across Indonesia.

​"This is the work program of the Youth and Sports Agency for 2025, which is synergized with the elements of the Education Agency, KONI, NPCI, and the provincial sports branch management of Jakarta," he said.
