Water channel along 100 meters on Jalan Haji Jum, RT 10/01, Rambutan Urban Village, Ciracas District, East Jakarta is being revitalized as part of effort in preventing inundation.
Completion target is in 40 days
Head of Ciracas District's Water Resources Unit, Yulia Indah said the work has been starting on October 20, 2025. The progress reaches 10 percent.
"As the early stage, we dig the channel to instal 40 x 40 cm u-ditch," he said, Thursday (10/23).
According to him, the existing drainage system in this densely populated area is only about 25 centimeters wide. Therefore, during heavy rain, the drainage system cannot accommodate the high water flow, causing flooding.
"Eight personnel are deployed to work on it. Completion target is in 40 days," he added.
Meanwhile, Leman (42), a local resident, said channel revitalization was submitted through Musrenbang 2024.
"Thanks to the unit for responding our request. We appreciate it much," he admitted.
