The West Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency is about to provide cat sterilization at RW 12 of Srengseng Urban Village, Kembangan, Friday (10/17). The activity eyes 100 local cats.

Head of West Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, Novy C Palit explained the sterilization will run from 7 AM to 10 AM. Sterilization is intended for local cats aged between eight months and five years.

"The requirements are that the owner must have an ID card and reside in West Jakarta. Owners must also bring their original ID card and a photocopy to the event," she said, Thursday (10/16).

Novy added that each owner can register up to three cats for sterilization. In addition to being healthy, the cats must be brought in a cage and fasted for at least eight hours before sterilization.

This sterilization, according to Novy, is part of population management to control the number of domestic animals. Therefore, she encouraged residents to take advantage of the initiative to sterilize pet and feral cats in their neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, West Jakarta KPKP's Acting Head Section of Animal Husbandry and Health, Milya Purnamasari explained there will be also anti-rabies vaccination tomorrow. Pets owner must have Jakarta ID card and live in West Jakarta.

Then pets to be vaccinated must be at least four months old, in good health and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

"We'll also provide pet health consultation for cats, dogs, monkeys and weasles," she explained.
