The Jakarta government will soon relocate animal traders, animal feed vendors, parcels, and culinary vendors from the Barito area to the Fauna and Culinary Center in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.
Offering full support to develop their business
This step is part of the effort to organize the urban space towards a New Jakarta that is greener, more orderly, and sustainable, while also providing a more decent and modern business space for MSMEs.
Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (PPKUKM) Head, Elisabeth Raty Rante Allo said, the Barito area is part of the development zone of the Pusaka Flag Park, which combines Ayodya Park, Langsat Park, and Leuser Park.
She stated that this arrangement is not merely relocation, but a transformation towards a more orderly and environmentally conscious city.
"We did not ignore them but facilitated by providing a new, more representative space and offering full support to develop their business," she expressed, Wednesday (10/15).
She explained that the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center was built with 125 kiosks divided into several zones: Zone A – Culinary (22 kiosks), Zone B – Amphitheater (70 seats), Zones C & D – Birds & Animal Feed (74 kiosks), Zone E – Parcel & Additional Culinary (29 kiosks), as well as toilets and a prayer room.
She explained that this area also has public facilities, including a performance arts and culture area, a spacious parking lot, toilets, a prayer room, and a community interaction area.
"In terms of design, this center is designed to be environmentally friendly, hygienic, and family-friendly, with good air circulation, sanitation, and cleanliness systems," she explained.
She went on to say that the Sentra Fauna and Culinary Lenteng Agung are easily accessible to the public via Lenteng Agung Commuter Line Station, various Transjakarta routes (4B Manggarai–UI, D21 Lebak Bulus–UI), and Jak Lingko 44 (Andara–Lenteng Agung).
Then, the Jakarta government emphasizes that the relocation process is conducted transparently and humanely. Vendors who are officially registered are fully facilitated in the transfer of goods, equipment, and livestock. As a form of support, they are granted a free period for kiosk retribution and premium locations for those who are willing to move early.
"There will also be various promotional activities, cultural performances, and community events at Sentra Fauna to attract visitors and boost the area's economic potential," she added.
This relocation also serves as a momentum to increase the capacity of MSMEs through mentoring programs, entrepreneurship training, and digital promotion integrated with the Jakpreneur program.
"Besides relocating, we also want them to advance to the next level. With better facilities and support, they can become part of a new face of Jakarta, a clean, well-organized city that cares for its residents," she added.
As information, the Lenteng Agung Fauna and Culinary Center is developed as an education center for fauna and the development of MSMEs. Besides serving as an economic space, this area also functions as a social and environmental space that strengthens community interactions.
With the spirit of New Jakarta, the Jakarta government is committed to realizing a progressive, comfortable, and humane city.
