Jakarta City Council's Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) together with Special Committee on Education Implementation and executive held a finalization meeting regarding the Regional Regulation Draft on Education Implementation.

Chairman of Jakarta City Council's Bapemperda, Abdul Aziz said this meeting was held to review the results of discussions at the Special Committee level before they are enacted into a Regional Regulation. The review was conducted to ensure the substance of the Regional Regulation Draft is more comprehensive and aligned with the needs of educational development in Jakarta.

"Lots of input, both programmatic and substantive," he said, Monday (10/6).

Aziz expressed his appreciation for the various parties who contributed to the drafting of this regional regulation. Several figures and education experts were also involved, including Imam B. Prasodjo.

"Hopefully, this Regional Regulation Draft can become a comprehensive Regional Regulation, in accordance with the community's expectations, and most importantly, is able to oversee the free education policy in Jakarta," he hoped.

Aziz added that the discussion of the Regional Regulation Draft on Education Implementation also awaits the update in the Draft Law (RUU) on the National Education System which is currently being discussed at the national level.

"We want to quickly finalize this regional regulation draft, but on the other hand, we must align it with the substance of the RUU currently being discussed at the central government to avoid any overlap. Therefore, for now, we will discuss it to a certain stage while waiting for the RUU to be agreed," he explained.
