Vice Governor Rano Karno emphasized that the Jakarta government is committed to building a healthcare service system that is increasingly adaptive, smart, and inclusive.

Jakarta continues to expand mental health services

He stated, one concrete step taken by the Jakarta government is the introduction of smart posyandu, an innovative technology-based service that accelerates service delivery, improves data accuracy, and strengthens community education and assistance.

"Posyandu in Jakarta currently has the infrastructure prepared to improve the health status of families, especially mothers and children," he expressed, when he served as the keynote speaker and opening the Expert Meeting on Child-Friendly Posyandu for Mental Health in Indonesia, Monday (10/6).

This activity organized by the Community Caucus for Mental Health Care (Keswa) was held at Beautika Restaurant Panglima Polim, South Jakarta, featuring speakers from academia, practitioners, and bureaucracy represented by the Jakarta Health Office, members of the Jakarta City Council, and the National Parliament (DPR).

He added, health is not only about the physical, but also mental well-being. Therefore, he believes that a healthy mother would be meaningless without a strong and happy soul.

"Jakarta continues to expand mental health services," he added.

Regarding mental health services, Jakarta has provided psychologists at community health centers, online consultations, as well as strengthening the roles of posyandu and health cadres at the community level.

In the future, Rano also expressed concern about the mother's mental health, especially during pregnancy and after childbirth. A happy mother will give birth to a healthy, strong, and intelligent generation.

"Therefore, posyandu needs to become a safe space for mothers and young families to receive guidance, education, and emotional support," he concluded.

Since last year, mental health services in Jakarta have begun to be integrated into posyandu for various age groups, ranging from children, teenagers, to the elderly.

So far, the cadres have not only provided nutrition and immunization services but also offered education and initial support for residents in need of psychological assistance.

This innovation demonstrates Jakarta's seriousness not only in efforts to reduce stunting rates but also in building a generation that is physically, mentally, and socially healthy.

"Because mental health is the foundation of life, productivity, and happiness. Let's make community health posts into child-friendly, mother-friendly, and mental health-friendly spaces," he asserted.

Community Caucus initiator for Mental Health Care, Mario Ekowati explained, the Community Caucus for Mental Health Care was formed due to concern over the mental health condition of Indonesian society.

Previously, in 2023, the authorities held a similar expert meeting to reach a consensus among experts about the importance of mental health within Posyandu.

"This purpose of this meeting is to find a model for implementing a mental health-friendly Posyandu," she stated.
