South Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar visited and distributed assistance to residents in RW 05, Pejaten Barat Urban Village, Pasar Minggu Sub-district, South Jakarta.

"... direct engagement with the community,"

Anwar mentioned that the site visit conducted by cycling with his team to foster closer engagement with the community, listen to their aspirations, and follow up on ongoing issues.

"Today, with the South Jakarta City Government officials, we held two activities in RW 05, monitoring the Open Defecation Free (ODF) declaration and distributing aid to orphans," he shared on Friday (10/3).

He noted that with several RWs in Pejaten Barat already achieving ODF status, this progress is expected to reduce disease transmission and environmental pollution, ultimately promoting a healthier, cleaner community and lowering stunting rates among toddlers.

"Hopefully, the entire area will be fully ODF in the near future," he expressed.

The initiative included assistance for 20 orphans and the provision of religious items for Al-Mutaqqien Mosque, aimed at fostering social responsibility.

Anwar also urged local administrators and residents to report any educational difficulties faced by their neighbors so that the issues can be addressed promptly.

"Through direct engagement with the community and tackling key issues like education and the environment, we’re aligning with the Governor's priorities," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Pejaten Barat Urban Village Head Asep Ahmad Umar noted that five RWs have been officially declared ODF, with only three remaining.

The process toward ODF status has taken about five months, involving strong collaborations between local administrators and residents.

"We're targeting the remaining three RWs to achieve ODF status by mid-2026. The mayor's visit today has encouraged them to catch up with the other five RWs," he emphasized.
