North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency conducted free cat sterilization at Pademangan District's Gelanggang Remaja, Jalan Budi Mulia, RT 11/12, Pademangan Barat Urban Village. As many as 250 cats were sterilized today.

200 male and 50 female cats

North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency Head, Unang Rustanto said this mass sterilization is a routine activity in collaboration with the EmYe Clinic, Kelapa Gading in commemoration of World Rabies Day which falls on September 28.

"We sterilized 200 male and 50 female cats today from 8 AM to 4 PM," he said, Tuesday (9/30).

According to him, today's activity involved 10 personnel.

"The owners also received one pack of cat food," he added.

Unang hopes that this activity can control the rapidly multiplying cat population while maintaining Jakarta's status as a rabies-free area.

He explained that the sub-agency has sterilized 1,000 cats of the initial target by 2,000 cats.

"Cat owners are able to monitor our social media for further detail about our next schedule," he explained.

One of the cat owners, Eka (43), admitted she knew this sterilization information from the cat lovers community.

"Thanks to the North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency for providing this activity for free. All of my 30 cats are already sterilized and vaccinated," she admitted.
