The Taruna Jaya 1 Youth Social Welfare Home (PSBR), owned by the Jakarta Social Agency, received a visit from representatives of the South Korean Embassy, First Secretary and Consul, Moon Joonsik, Thursday (9/25).
Some have achieved international achievement
On the same day, PSBR Taruna Jaya 1 also received a visit from a delegation from Moscow, Russia.
The visit was conducted to monitor the development of cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
This program has been running from 2022 to 2025, with the aim of increasing independence and social rehabilitation opportunities for vulnerable youth.
Head of Jakarta Social Agency, Iqbal Akbarudin explained PSBR Taruna Jaya 1 is one of 22 shelters under the Jakarta Provincial Social Agency. It serves as a social rehabilitation center for vulnerable youth, such as abandoned youth, school dropouts, and street children, aged 16–22.
"There are nine types of skills training available for inmates, ranging from mechanic training, air conditioning repair, cell phone repair, culinary arts, makeup, sewing, and automotive," he explained.
Currently, the shelter has a capacity of 100 people with complete facilities, including an auditorium, skills classrooms, a library, a sports room, and a multi-purpose field.
In addition to providing training, PSBR Taruna Jaya 1 also collaborates with various parties, ranging from ministries, related agencies, to the business world to channel graduates to get a job.
"In fact, some inmates have participated in exhibitions and collaborated with businesses. Some have achieved international achievement," he stated.
