Jakarta City Council's Commission B Member, Muhammad Al Fatih supports the Jakarta Provincial Government effort in extending the traffic engineering trial on Jalan TB Simatupang by opening the Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate up to October 2025.
make traffic movement more effective
This extension follows positive results from a five-day trial. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the policy has successfully reduced congestion in this densely populated area.
"I really support the Jakarta Provincial Government's effort in extending the trial of traffic engineering on Jalan TB Simatupang by opening the Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate up to October 2025," he said, Monday (9/22).
Al Fatih explained that the evaluation results showed a 17.15 percent decrease in traffic volume on Jalan RA Kartini during peak hours. This, he added, proves that the policy is on target.
Therefore, he fully supports the extension of this traffic engineering, and even hopes that this policy will continue until all excavation projects in the TB Simatupang area are completed.
"Road users need alternative options to reduce vehicle congestion and make traffic movement more effective during the construction period," he added.
However, Al Fatih asked the Jakarta Provincial Government and the project contractor to convey the excavation timeline openly, starting from the start date to the target completion.
He continued that clear information would provide certainty to the public and strengthen public trust that the project is being handled seriously.
"It is necessary to re-examine the bottleneck points and road narrowing in the TB Simatupang area, so that the engineering implemented not only temporarily relieves congestion, but also prevents the potential for new problems," he continued
Furthermore, he believes that the policies implemented by the Jakarta Provincial Government will make Jalan TB Simatupang a symbol of smooth traffic and mobility for Jakarta residents.
"Transparency, regular evaluation, and sustainability of traffic engineering are the keys to ensuring that the benefits of this policy are truly felt by the public," he emphasized.
