Jakarta City Council Commission D, Pantas Nainggolan fully supports the operation of Rorotan Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant, North Jakarta.

must be environmentally friendly

According to him, waste processing at the Rorotan RDF must prioritize environmentally friendly aspects and minimize negative impacts on the surrounding community.

"We support it. The plant must be environmentally friendly and minimizing the impact on society," he said, Monday (9/22).

He hopes the operation of Rorotan RDF can achieve zero emissions along with the Jakarta Provincial Government's efforts to control odors and emissions by adding technologies such as deodorizers, cyclones, wet scrubbers, and induced draft fans.

"The odor factor should not be an obstacle," he added.

In addition to being an emergency solution to the nearly full condition of the Bantar Gebang Landfill, Pantas assessed that the Rorotan RDF also has the potential to provide broader benefits, including employment for local residents.

Previously, Head of Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto stated Rorotan RDF uses the latest technology from Europe and is assisted by ITB experts to ensure odor and emission control.

"It is the provincial government's commitment to maintaining public trust and making the RDF Plant a solution for waste management," he stated.

The agency ensures that the Rorotan RDF Plant is safe for the environment and residents' health because it is equipped with a multi-layered system for controlling air pollution, dust, exhaust gases, and odors.
