The Jakarta Provincial Government has extended the traffic engineering scheme on Jalan TB Simatupang by keeping the Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate open until the end of October 2025.
"This (opening the toll gate) can be extended until the end of October because it has proven effective in reducing traffic jams,"
This decision was made by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung after evaluating the traffic engineering trial implemented over the past five days.
The trial showed positive results in reducing traffic congestion in the area.
"This (opening the toll gate) can be extended until the end of October because it has proven effective in reducing traffic jams," said Pramono Anung, as quoted from the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release on Monday (9/22).
Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate on Jalan RA Kartini often becomes a traffic congestion point, especially during peak hours. During the trial period, the toll access was opened for free to road users, significantly reducing traffic load on Jalan TB Simatupang and RA Kartini arterial road.
Based on the trial evaluation from September 15 to 19, 2025, the number of vehicles entering through the Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate channelization reached 3,052 vehicles, averaging 610 vehicles per day.
Comparing data before and after the trial shows positive results. From August 25 to 29, 2025, the average peak hour traffic volume on Jalan RA Kartini was 3,774.81 passenger car units (pcu) per hour. However, during the trial, this number dropped to 3,127.44 pcu/hour, decreasing by 17.15 percent.
Moreover, analysis results showed that the capacity of Jalan RA Kartini increased by 26 percent. Meanwhile, the volume-to-capacity (VC) ratio dropped by 21.4 percent and the average speed of the road network rose by 15.92 percent. Overall, traffic performance in the TB Simatupang–RA Kartini area improved by 18.65 percent.
These data indicate a strong public need for smoother alternative routes and reducing vehicle buildup on arterial roads.
"The free access at the Fatmawati 2 Toll Gate has proven to have a real impact on improving traffic flow," Pramono said.
Furthermore, he expressed appreciation to all parties involved in maintaining smooth traffic flow in Jalan TB Simatupang area and surroundings.
On this occasion, the governor also thanked road users for their patience and feedback to the Jakarta Government to realize a safe and comfortable traffic condition in the city.
"The Jakarta Government hopes that the traffic flow in South Jakarta will be better organized and traffic congestion will decrease significantly," he stated.
