Jakarta Legislative Council Commission B held a working meeting with the executive to discuss food availability in the capital.

We were just talking about stock exposure until October

Commission B Chairperson, Nova Harivan Paloh ensures that food stock in Jakarta is safe until October 2025. However, he reminds the Jakarta Government to promptly anticipate food needs ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"We were just talking about stock exposure until October. But it's already mid-September, and December is just around the corner. So, we need to start considering now how rice, sugar, oil, and meat stocks will truly be sufficient for the needs of Jakarta's residents," he expressed, Wednesday (9/17).

He emphasized that food prices remain stable and do not exceed the Highest Retail Price (HET). He also encouraged the Government to intensify the cheap food movement and market operations in various areas.

His party also emphasized that the implementation of subsidized food programs does not result in long queues or stock shortages before all residents are served.

"In the future, we ask the KPKP Agency and BUMD to be more innovative. For instance, increasing distribution points, adding quotas, and organizing cheap food movements as additional efforts," he explained.

He added, the government has allocated approximately Rp1 trillion in food subsidies, including an additional Rp 200 billion this year. This program is done through BUMDs such as Pasar Jaya, Food Station, and Dharma Jaya.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining the rice supply circulation in Jakarta, which reaches 2,600 tons per day, to remain stable until the end of the year.

"Food Station has already done contract farming. That must be maximized so that stock is maintained. Don't let us run out just before Christmas and New Year," he closed.
