Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, revealed the efforts to handle congestion and manage public transportation made by the Jakarta Government.

He conveyed this statement during the Plenary Meeting where Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the general views of the factions of the Jakarta Legislative Council regarding the 2026 Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget and the change in the legal entity of the Regional Public Water Company Jaya to a Limited Liability Company (Perseroda)

"Regarding the handling of congestion and public transportation management, the executive has taken measures through short-term traffic engineering management," he said, Tuesday (9/9).

He explained various efforts undertaken in traffic engineering management include short-term measures such as closing U-turns and implementing One-Way Systems (OWS) on certain roads to parse congestion.

Then the application of traffic management and engineering, traffic phase regulation and cycle time of traffic signal devices, as well as geometric improvements to road segments and intersections, along with the enforcement of street vendors' parking and city transportation.

He also conveyed the policy of traffic restrictions using the odd-even system that has been in place. Currently, Jakarta has also integrated the use of AI-based technology in traffic management at intersections.

He also presented an integrated transportation strategy combined with park and ride at several locations in the Jakarta perimeter area. These locations were Kampung Rambutan, Lebak Bulus, Ragunan, and Kalideres.

"This will be developed in several other areas. We will provide comfortable, safe, affordable, and equitable transportation services to reach all segments of society," he stated.
