"... the list of activities must comply with regulations,"
Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission A held a working meeting with DPRD Secretariat to discuss the 2026 legislative work plan.
Commission A Chairman, Inggard Joshua, emphasized the importance of aligning the work plan with current laws and the increasingly constrained regional budget.
"Of course,
the list of activities must comply with regulations while also taking into account budget ceilings and priorities. We are aware that fund transfers from the central government, such as General Allocation Fund (DAU), Special Allocation Fund (DAK), and revenue sharing, may decrease in the future due to national efficiency measures," he explained. He stressed that each DPRD must deliver tangible benefits to the public. Activities that lack significant output, such as irrelevant working visits or overly ceremonial events, should be minimized.
"If a program has no public impact, it should be eliminated. Likewise, ceremonial activities should be held within the DPRD building to save costs rather than renting external venues," he added.
Regarding Coffee Morning activities, Inggard assessed that they still serve as an important role as spaces for reflection and dialogue between council members and leadership. However, he urged for them to be held in a modest manner without excessive entertainment.
"Coffee Morning is essential as it allows members to share their ideas with the leadership. The outcomes can then be brought into discussions with the executive, ensuring that policies align with the vision, mission, and aspirations of the people," he asserted.
