North Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency held free motor vehicle emission tests at the local Mayor's Office on September 1-2, 2025. A total of 62 vehicles underwent exhaust gas inspections.

"We are committed to continuously improving air quality in Jakarta, especially North Jakarta,"

North Jakarta LH Sub-agency's Pollution Control and Environmental Damage Section Head, Evy Sulistiawati, informed that emission tests are conducted simultaneously in each city to commemorate International Clean Air Day, celebrated every September 7.

This activity aims to create a healthier environment and ensure all vehicles in Jakarta comply with exhaust emission standards.

"More vehicles were tested today compared to the previous day," she mentioned, on Tuesday (9/2).

She detailed that during yesterday's testing, 11 vehicles were checked, consisting of five motorcycles and six cars.

Today, she added, 51 vehicles were tested, consisting of 40 motorcycles and 11 cars.

"The results showed that 26 motorcycles and one car failed the emission test. For vehicles we did not pass, we advise owners to perform regular maintenance and repairs to meet emission standards," she explained.

She noted that emission tests in North Jakarta are condected routinely every week, not only serving government office areas but also communities.

"We already have a schedule for this free emission test service. This week, it is planned to be held at the North Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-agency office and in neighborhoods participating in the Proklim program at the provincial and national levels," she stated.

She hopes that more vehicles will undergo emission tests and regular maintenance to contribute to improving air quality.

Furthermore, any vehicle that does not take the emission test or fails will face disincentive sanctions such as the highest parking fees or fines according to Law No. 22/2009 on Traffic and Road Transport.

"We are committed to continuously improving air quality in Jakarta, especially North Jakarta. I also urge vehicle owners to maintain their vehicles regularly," she asserted.

Meanwhile, Nasrudin (33), a resident of Tugu Selatan Urban Village, said this was his first time participating in a free vehicle emission test.

He felt very helped and expressed gratitude for the service provided by the North Jakarta Environment Sub-agency.

"I happened to be at the North Jakarta Mayor's Office service post when I saw the free emission testing. The results came out immediately, and my vehicle passed," he shared.
