Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung received a courtesy call from the Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (8/27).

We welcome the offer from the Minister

This meeting discussed cooperation between the Jakarta Government and the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection to reduce violence against women and children in the capital.

Pramono welcomed this program. He also asked the Head of Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP) to follow up on it.

"We welcome the offer from the Minister and have just appointed the Head of the Child Protection and Population Agency to follow up," he expressed.

He expressed his desire to make Jakarta a role model city that is friendly to women and children.

Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Minister, Arifatul Choiri Fauzi, hopes that Jakarta could continue to advance cooperation programs to reduce cases of violence against women and children.

Those programs were the Indonesia Shared Space program, which is a continuation of the child- and women-friendly village and sub-district program. Additionally, there was the expansion of the utilization of call center 129 and a data system for women and children based on villages and urban villages.

According to the analysis by the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, there are five main factors contributing to violence against women and children. These are economic problems, family parenting patterns, gadget factors, environment, and marriage at a young age.

"So, we have a shared commitment to find solutions on what we can do between the ministry and Jakarta to reduce the rate of violence against women and children," he continued.

He emphasized the importance of family as a solution, by strengthening the role of women and protecting children.

"Because this problem originates from families, but families also become the solution to problem-solving, so we hope to strengthen our families again, empower women, and protect our children," he closed.
