To inspire residents to plant Pulut Corn massively
South Jakarta City Secretary, Mukhlisin said, this simultaneous planting is expected to serve as a milestone in efforts to achieve sustainable food security in South Jakarta.
"Food security is an issue that we must address in every aspect of life," he said, at the planting site, Tiga Durian RPTRA, Duren Tiga Urban Village, Pancoran Sub-district, South Jakarta, Wednesday (8/27).
He explained, this action is an innovative solution to address the high demand and prices. Hence, the government invites all residents, from households, schools, to government and private institutions, to actively participate in planting Pulut Corn.
"Today we start with a planting movement here, hoping to inspire residents to plant Pulut Corn massively," he continued.
He asked all stakeholders and other parties to work synergistically in every process, from planting, monitoring progress, to marketing during harvest.
"That harvest is also the most important part; they need to know about marketing, uses, and processing. Don't let this become unsustainable," he added.
South Jakarta TP PKK Chairwoman, Diah Anwar uttered, this activity is carried out to support the development of urban farming and food security.
She added, the planting of 6,250 Pulut Corn seedlings in 177 locations across South Jakarta involved farmers, urban farming activists, RPTRA caretakers, and others.
"Later, it won't just be a matter of harvesting; there will be a special assessment from the judging team to ensure the winner. However, it's not just about winning; it's for the food security of all of us," she stated.
