Head of Jakarta Youth and Sports Agency, Andri Yansyah, said this event is a regular agenda of the Jakarta Provincial Government to develop and prepare disabled athletes ahead of the nearest sports event, the National Paralympic Week (Perpanas).
“Additionally, in the long term, this event is part of the effort to prepare top talents for the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) in East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara,” Andri said on Tuesday (8/26).
He noted that this year’s Jakarta Sports Week for People with Disabilities is attended by 500 athletes from five administrative cities, with each region sending 100 athletes. The large number of participants is expected to boost the training spirit of disabled athletes throughout Jakarta.
The championship is not only held to seek achievements but also to foster friendship among athletes and between administrative regions in Jakarta.

. Therefore, this event serves as an important platform for them. By meeting, they can exchange information, techniques, strategies, and experiences. This is important because ultimately, all of this will bring honor to Jakarta, even Indonesia, on the international stage,” he explained. He added that Dispora hopes this sports week can produce more potential athletes from Jakarta who can contribute to the national team.
On this occasion, Andri also expressed appreciation to all parties supporting the event, from the mayors of five administrative areas, the National Paralympic Committee (NPC), to the parents of the athletes who continuously accompany them during training and competitions.
“We hope DKI Jakarta’s ranking improves, and many athletes can bring pride to the nation at the global level. Good luck to all athletes. May this event be a blessing for all of us and bring higher achievements for Indonesia,” he expressed.
