Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung kicked off the initiative for the construction of Royal Batavia Cakung Hospital in Super Blok Cakung Barat Terpadu, East Jakarta.

"I truly hope this becomes a new international hospital,"

He hoped that this international-standard hospital, which will begin construction soon, could serve as a role model for other regional hospitals across Indonesia.

"I truly hope this becomes a new international hospital. The name Royal Batavia should become a benchmark for regional government-owned hospitals throughout Indonesia, not just in Jakarta," said Pramono at Cakung Barat Tower Public Housing, East Jakarta, on Monday (8/25).

The hospital is planned to be built on 1.9 hectares of land and will have a capacity of up to 282 rooms. The construction is targeted for completion by the end of 2027, with a design that highlights Betawi culture.

"In line with Law (UU) No.2/2024, we truly interpret this, even in the naming, which reflects Betawi identity," he shared.

Pramono also emphasized the importance of preparing a strong IT system from the beginning and measuring that the hospital can serve both BPJS and non-BPJS patients. As an international-standard hospital, Royal Batavia Cakung is expected to become a referral center for patients with heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and more.

As the 32nd hospital under Jakarta Provincial Government, this hospital is expected to be well-prepared and bring benefits to citizens of Jakarta, especially in East Jakarta.

Jakarta Health Agency head, Ani Ruspitawati mentioned that the hospital will be part of the Super Blok Cakung Barat Terpadu area. Besides hospital, the area will also include other public facilities as outlined in the master plan.

With an area of approximately 42.28 km², Cakung Sub-district currently only has two hospitals, namely Harapan Jayakarta Hospital, a class-C private hospital, and Resti Mulya Mother and Child Hospital.

Meanwhile, in East Jakarta, the Jakarta Provincial Government has two type-B regional public hospitals (RSUDs), namely RSUD Pasar Rebo and RSUD Budi Asih, both of which are located more than 10 kilometers from Cakung Sub-district.

"There are around 21,648 reported cases of infectious diseases in Cakung, making it the second highest in East Jakarta. Additionally, the number of traffic accidents is also high, with over 3,349 incidents or about 44 percent of all traffic accidents in Jakarta," she asserted.

This situation serves as one of the main reasons for building Royal Batavia Hospital, which is set to offer services focused on emerging infectious diseases (EID) and trauma care.

"EID services will also help anticipate potential outbreaks, pandemics, and other public health emergencies," she added.

The construction of Royal Batavia Hospital in Cakung has begun with several stages, including a feasibility study, planning documents, service focus assessments, and accelerated preparation for construction in 2025, with completion targeted for 2027.

The hospital will cover a total building area of 49,985 square meters and is planned to have 13 floors and two basement levels.

"The hospital building adopts a stage-house structure inspired by traditional Betawi stilt houses, with Betawi-style ornaments featured in the façade design, specifically the tapak jala motif," Ani explained.

The hospital is set to become Jakarta Provincial Government's first international-standard facility, featuring a wide range of modern medical facilities.
