Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung highlights the severe congestion along Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta.

According to him, the congestion is caused by ongoing National Strategic Project (PSN) managed by the central government.

"Jalan TB Simatupang is congested due to central government's National Strategic Project (PSN), and complaints about it have been ongoing," he shared at Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (8/20).

Pramono visited Jalan TB Simatupang without an escort on Saturday (8/16) to assess the situation firsthand. He found that the traffic congestion in the area was indeed very severe.

To address the issue, Pramono instructs several agencies, including Public Works, Transportation Agencies, and Satpol PP to take immediate action.

"First, I've asked that the project barracks be reduced in size. Some are way too large, even with excavators and additional equipment beside them," he mentioned.

Pramono also stated that he would send an official letter to the central government, which coordinates the PSN project, requesting assistance in easing the traffic congestion on Jalan TB Simatupang.

He advised residents to take alternative routes to help alleviate congestion, especially those who have the option to use inner-city toll roads or other routes. 

"If everyone uses Jalan TB Simatupang in this condition, the congestion will obviously be overwhelming," he added.

In addition, he instructed traffic officers to take action against informal traffic controllers (locally known as 'Pak Ogah') who frequently appear in the area. He emphasized that managing traffic flow is the responsibility of police, Satpol PP, and Transportation Agency.

"In other areas, we're seeing a decline in congestion, but Jalan TB Simatupang remains a serious problem," he said.
