Dozens of RW 11 residents, Kebon Pala Urban Village, Makasar District, East Jakarta were enthusiast to participate the grease-climbing (panjat pinang) competition in order to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence Day.

The participants were seen trying their best to work together to reach the top of the Areca Palm tree trunk so they could take various prizes.
Head of RT 08/11, Kebon Pala Urban Village, Muhammad Husni Afandi, said this competition is held every year at the same location, near the Cipinang River.
"Participants were not only from RT 08, but also other RTs in the area of RW 11," he said, Monday (8/18).
He added that the grease-climbing competition was participated by seven teams, each team consisting of seven to eight people aged 17 to 50 years.
"Prizes are Rp 50,000 and Rp 100,000, buckets, ladles, shoes, sandals, fans, and lunch boxes. There are also instant noodles, refreshing drinks, shampoo, dish soap, and more," he added.
Meanwhile, one of the participants, Khoirul Umam (32) admitted enthusiast to participate the competition.
"The prize is not my goal. I want to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day. I also participated the same competition here last year," he admitted.
