Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the Slipi underpass in Central Jakarta, which has been transformed into a public space and sports area.
I came here to invite the mayors to make use of spaces like these available in Jakarta
During his visit, Pramono asked all the mayors in Jakarta to utilize open spaces such as underpasses and bridges for various public activities.
"I came here to invite the mayors to make use of spaces like these available in Jakarta; I grant permission for activities like this to be conducted," he expressed, under Slipi toll road, Central Jakarta, Friday (8/15).
He admitted to being surprised that the public space under the Slipi toll road is also enjoyed by visitors from outside the area, such as Depok, Bekasi, and even Malang. This shows the high interest of residents in easily accessible open spaces.
"I have asked all the mayors present this afternoon to make breakthroughs by creating places like this under bridges, under toll roads, which will then benefit their residents," he explained.
To realize the utilization of open spaces, they are allowed to use Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds in each city. He believes that with open arrangements, the spaces under bridges and toll roads can provide significant benefits to the community.
After briefly chatting with residents and users of the sports area under the Slipi toll, he mentioned that the facilities provided are good. However, unfortunately, he has not yet been able to provide parking areas around the site.
"Sorry, I probably can't make the parking space in a place like this, it's impossible," he stressed.
He also instructed the Central Jakarta Mayor to provide drinking water in the area. He also hoped that the utilization of the Slipi underpass as a public space and sports area could serve as a prototype to be developed in all areas of Jakarta.
"I use this to become a model, and the place must be made open; an open space where anyone can enjoy this," he closed.
